Featured here is an early Japanese sampler CD from Epic/Sony entitled American Best Selection.  The catalog number is 35 8P-35, and the copyright date shown on the disc and inserts is 1983.  It is a compilation of 12 U.S. radio hits from 1983.  The tracks are as follows:

  • “Beat It”, Michael Jackson
  • “Who Can It Be Now?”, Men at Work
  • “She’s Older Now”, Betty Wright
  • “Missing You”, Dan Fogelberg
  • “On the Loose”, Saga
  • “Goody Two Shoes”, Adam Ant
  • “Down Under”, Men at Work
  • “Der Kommissar”, After the Fire
  • “Electric Avenue”, Eddy Grant
  • “Love My Way”, The Psychedelic Furs
  • “Juicy Fruit”, Mtume
  • “Reach Out”, George Duke

Shown below, from top to bottom, are scans of the disc, cover, and back insert.  I have to believe that this is a rare disc, as I have never seen another copy.
