Shown here are Non-Target CDs pressed in Japan for release in Europe.

Joe Jackson Night and Day (A&M, catalog number CDA 64906). This disc, like a limited collection of other A&M titles released in Europe, was pressed in Japan by CBS/Sony. In fact, it would appear that these discs were also distributed in Europe by CBS/Sony due to the fact that they have same label design and similar inserts to early European CBS/Sony titles. This pressing of Night and Day has “CSR COMPACT DISC” repeating in the plastic ring, and the matrix code is “DIDZ-10106 11A2″. Note that the disc also has “DIDZ-10106″ printed beneath the catalog number at 3 o’clock. Early Japanese CBS/Sony pressings of A&M titles made for the European market are generally quite rare.

Bruce Springsteen Born to Run (CBS, catalog number CDCBS 80959). As would be expected, this disc was pressed by CBS/Sony. In fact, this is a particularly early Japanese CBS/Sony pressing by virtue of the crude font displayed in the matrix code. The matrix code is “35DP-21-1 1A1″. Thus, the matrix code bears the catalog number of the original Japanese issue of Born to Run, 35DP 21. The earliest CBS/Sony pressings of Born to Run released in Japan have the same or a similar matrix code in this crude font. The disc above has “MANUFACTURED BY CBS/SONY RECORDS INC.” stamped on the plastic ring, and it has “DIDP 21″ printed beneath the catalog number at 3 o’clock. This pressing is very rare, though later Japanese CBS/Sony pressings of Born to Run for the European market are found more readily.
